The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd (BTMU), a member of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (MUFG), has opened a new computer and language laboratory at Myanmar Institute of Banking (MIB).
This “Comp and Lang Lab” is equipped with 50 laptops and language training resources.

The bank said it will allow members of the banking association raise their staff’s proficiency in computer and language programs through MIB.
Go Watanabe, BTMU’s chief executive officer for Asia and Oceania, said: “Our partnership with Myanmar Banks Association is a good way for us to contribute in a meaningful manner towards the long term development of Myanmar’s financial markets.”
“Banking is a people’s business. To be the best, we all need the best talents available and there is no short cut in cultivating talents.”
BTMU first announced that it will fund the development of learning facility at the MIB, which is the training arm of the MBA, at the opening of its Yangon branch in April.
BTMU was one of the first nine foreign banks to get licence to operate in Myanmar.
The donation is in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between BTMU and MBA in 2014, which aims to provide training programs, and the transfer of banking technology and knowledge.
