Taiwanese computer and electronics giant ASUS has partnered with KMD Computer Group to distribute its notebooks and desktops in Myanmar as it tries to expand into the nascent market with increasing customer demand for international PC brands.
ASUS, which is one of the top five consumer notebook makers in the world, has been distributing its products through local firm Synnex prior to adding KMD as a distributor.
Jeff Lo, country manager of ASUS Indochina & Thailand, said, “KMD is a respected and established IT distributor in the country and we’re pleased to have them on board as national distributor for our PC business.”
He said the demand for ASUS products has significantly increased and this partnership is a well-timed one.
“We are really optimistic about Myanmar’s booming IT market following the gradual improvement of internet coverage. It has become a new focus country [for us]. Along with KMD’s expertise, reach and support, we are confident of growing our business and having a wider reach and partner base here.”
Established in 1986, KMD is a well-known ICT product distributor in Myanmar and is authorised to distribute many international brands.
Tyn Tyn Aye, president of KMD, said, “We are glad to be partnered with ASUS to bring their technologies to Myanmar. With our strong network of partners and retailers, we look forward to distributing ASUS brand in Myanmar.”
There are a range of ASUS notebooks available in Myanmar market aiming at various segments from entry to hi-end users – such as ASUS ZenBook Series, ROG G Series, Transformer Series and X/A & K Series.
