France-based Havas has announced its planned acquisition of Riverorchid, a communications agency with operations in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
This move will see Havas having operations in nine out of ten Southeast Asian economies.
Riverorchid brings a team of approximately 250 people offering solutions including advertising, media, PR, research and digital.
“Acquiring Riverorchid shows our commitment to growth in Asia Pacific and this is a significant step in that direction along with the acquisition of our historical affiliate Havas Media Vietnam,” Yannick Bolloré, chairman and CEO of Havas.
Riverorchid CEO Pick Pimolsaengsuriya said, “Our partnership with Havas brings to us and our clients numerous technologies and processes, as well as an innovative culture which we are confident will help steer us to become Indochina’s premier agency.”
The Havas Worldwide network is made up of 11,000 employees in 75 countries. In Southeast Asia, Havas Worldwide has a presence in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Its clients include Air France, Tokio Marine, Coca-Cola, Credit Suisse, Danone, Far East Organization, Merck, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Reckitt Benckiser and Sanofi.
